The 2016 Vintage Port is a 60/40 blend of Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional, coming in with 19% alcohol and 87 grams of residual sugar. A tank sample (final blend, out of cask and ready for bottling in another week), this shows even more of the cistus/eucalyptus aromatics than the LBV had this issue. Of course, and more importantly, it also adds more power, concentration and riper fruit. It's delicious and beautifully structured, very tight. This just might be a sleeper of the vintage. It looks like a splendid VP, stuffed, structured and very tasty. I have an early date set here for approachability, but that's a minimum. It will show a lot better around 2035.
